Anti-Itch Cream Recipe
You know that feeling when you have a horrible itch, and you start scratching it even though you know you shouldn't, and that just makes it worse, and before you know it you think you'd rather just tear the skin off than endure the itch any longer? That happened to me on an airplane once. We hadn't even left the tarmac and I was totally losing my shit. The person sitting next to me suggested I put mint toothpaste on it. I had some in my carry-on and figured I had nothing to lose, so I smeared a thick layer over my whole red, bumpy, throbbing foot. It felt better immediately, and I don't think I even had to reapply for the rest of my 8-hour flight! Seriously, it was like a miracle.
Obviously, we'd all prefer to not get bitten at all. Last week I shared my recipe for homemade bug spray which will hopefully prevent you from further itchies, but hell, sometimes you just get bitten.
anti-itch cream recipe
yield: fills a 2 oz. jar
1 Tbsp bentonite clay
1 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp witch hazel
30 drops peppermint essential oil
15 drops chamomile essential oil
Combine ingredients and mix throughly. Store in an air-tight jar and use within 1 year. To use, smear a glob over an itchy spot. Don't rub it in, leave a healthy layer over the bite until the cream wears away.
