Growing up, I recall my mom using essential oils for everything from cleaning, to treating poison ivy rashes, to getting ahead of the earliest inklings of a cold or cough. Later in life, probably around high school, I realized that most of my friends didn’t use Lavender on their pulse points to help them sleep better, or diffuse Thieves to stave off a scratchy throat. But, in my childhood home, modern Western medicine had its place, as did those of ancient cultures. Today, I seek to maintain that balance in my home and family life.

In the spirit of all of this, my mom and I collaborated to create the chart below. We pulled heavily from Essential Oils Desk Reference, Special 5th Edition.
